Letter From US Senator Jon Tester of Montana

I received Senator Tester's letter on March 21. His letter is not responding to an individual letter I sent him. He is responding to a statement by hundreds of scientists that I signed. In other words, he is using his form letter on global warming to stick his finger in the eyes of the hundreds and even thousands of atmospheric scientists who disagree with him.

For your homework, compare Senator Tester's letter below with the Letter to the IPCC by 101 scientists. Find how many points in the Senator's letter contradict the letter by the scientists.

I have not counted, but I notice that every point made by the Senator is pseudo-science. This illustrates our problem.

Dear Edwin,

Thank you for taking the time to contact me with your skepticism regarding global warming. I appreciate your perspective on this important issue facing our nation, but respectfully disagree with your conclusion.

Climate change is causing devastating effects on our environment. In Montana, we are witnessing the disappearance of the glaciers in Glacier National Park, a lengthy drought, and wildly shifting weather patterns.

In north central Montana, we haven't had a "Montana" winter in nearly 30 years. Worldwide, the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, and snow storms threatens our safety and burdens global economics as we witness irregular precipitation patterns.

Because of my concern for our safety, economic well-being, and environment, I am committed to reversing the effects of climate change.

Congress will consider several important pieces of legislation this year on global warming, and I intend to be a part of the solution to global climate change. Promoting conservation efforts, reducing emissions from industrial sources and developing renewable fuels are just a few of our options, and I will look closely at all of them.

Your input is an incredibly important part of the process. I hope that you will contact me again in the future if you have any further questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jon Tester

My Response to Senator Tester

Here is our big problem

Senator Tester does not have time to research anything about global warming and he is not an atmospheric scientist. So he depends upon his staff for information. He should know that is a BIG mistake.

His staff is no doubt composed of environmentalists and they parrot the green mantra to him and they show him the IPCC Summary Report which was written for exactly this purpose: to brainwash busy senators.

If you have a question about global warming, who are you going to call? Your senator? Dan Rather? Al Gore? A Peace Prize winner?

No.

Better read the summary letters by the scientists themselves rather than the manipulated information delivered by the United Nations.

I do fault Senator Tester for one thing. Senator Inhofe has made very clear and accurate presentations on the global warming hoax to the Senate. Where was Senator Tester?

In our GW Summary, we show that 700 scientists have signed the Senate Minority Report by Senator Inhofe saying global warming is a fraud. This is 12 times the 52 signatures on the IPCC report and few of those 52 are atmospheric scientists.

Before Senator Tester starts voting for global warming bills that will destroy what is left of our economy, he should take a few hours to get his facts straight.

Here is his letter again with my comments in bold:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me with your skepticism regarding global warming. I appreciate your perspective on this important issue facing our nation, but respectfully disagree with your conclusion.

(What is the basis of his disagreement? Does he have a list of 700 scientists who say GW is true? I don't think so. I have never seen such a list.)

Climate change is causing devastating effects on our environment. In Montana, we are witnessing the disappearance of the glaciers in Glacier National Park, a lengthy drought, and wildly shifting weather patterns.

(All his claims have been proven wrong. There is no devastation going on. All the weather events we see are in the range of normal climate fluctuations. And his logic is faulty.)

In north central Montana, we haven't had a "Montana" winter in nearly 30 years. Worldwide, the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, and snow storms threatens our safety and burdens global economics as we witness irregular precipitation patterns.

(Wait 10 years and see how cold Montana gets. The last year has shown that the solar change and the ocean current change have turned our future climate on cold. Alaska experienced its coldest winter since the 1880s. So did Canada. The arctic ice is growing. The polar bears are not in danger of extinction. All his claims about the frequency and intensity of these weather events have been shown in peer-reviewed papers to be false.)

Because of my concern for our safety, economic well-being, and environment, I am committed to reversing the effects of climate change.

(I'm glad he is so concerned about a problem that does not exist. He needs to read the findings of economists who have shown that any action will be far more costly than no action. In other words, even if climate change were a problem, it is better to adapt than fight. See menu "GW Letter to IPCC")

Congress will consider several important pieces of legislation this year on global warming, and I intend to be a part of the solution to global climate change. Promoting conservation efforts, reducing emissions from industrial sources and developing renewable fuels are just a few of our options, and I will look closely at all of them.

(If he would look closely at global warming, he would learn it's not a problem. Since it's not a problem, don't try to solve it!)

(He brings up one BIG question: For those who "believe" we are facing dramatic climate change, is it not illogical to be placing our future energy bets on renewable technologies that are dependent on future climate? How do they know the wind will always blow where they put their wind turbines?)

Your input is an incredibly important part of the process. I hope that you will contact me again in the future if you have any further questions or concerns.

(Actually, he has no interest in my input. He thinks he is smarter than the thousands of atmospheric scientists who say global warming is a total hoax. He is not part of the solution. He is part of the problem.)

Sincerely,

Jon Tester
